Stunning old church and venue for mayoral choral service. The oldest church in Brighton located very close to city centre so should be on everyone's visit list.
What a lovely and welcoming Christmas Day Holy Eucharist. I was visiting friends in Brighton for Christmas, and found this church. The bell ringers were marvelous and the church beautifully decorated. Thank you to the members and clergy, and thanks be to God.
Massively restored and rebuilt original parish Church of Brighton. Attractive interior, good acoustics and interesting burials
The ancient mother church of Brighton. So many of my ancestors were married here. Others buried in the graveyard... including the famous Martha Gunn, Regency bathing dipper, wife of my great Uncle Stephen x7.
Some beautiful stained glass inside.
Dreadful dreary Xmas eve Mass. Been to happier funerals. Back to All Saints, Hove next year.
Hidden by the overgrown fenced off and disused entrance to this church lie the remains and gravestone of Sake Dean Mahomet. After opening the first coffee shop in London and self publishing a book on his travels, this remarkable man invented shampoo in Brighton, where his salon stood where the Queens Hotel is now. He tended the Prince Regent at the pavilion too. He should be better known and the church should enable people to visit his grave properly. I have posted a picture of it. You can only spot it over the wall.
I was visiting Brighton and attended Christmas morning service. The bell ringers were in fine form and the church beautifully decorated. A wonderful service and friendly parishioners, it made my Christmas.
I had a lovely day ,at the Coronation Festival.
Great fun, & the dogs in fancy dress.
The brass band wonderful.
Me and Margaret were on the run again - too many aperols in our last local! But oh we did run into the most fabulous little festival at this church! Marvelous acts, drinks to hand, and quite a spectacular host...! I couldn't believe my ears! And that was just the music, I couldn't stop Margaret from gawking at the brilliant architecture, high pitched roof and the ancient features of the church itself. Would recommend!! (10/10)
Popped in after coming up the hill after swimming, always wanted to see inside as I enjoy the architecture. It was the end of a Sunday service and we were greeted with friendly faces. The interior didn't disappoint, stunning stained glass and beautiful rafters. Worth the visit if the door is open.
